SOSPRO — A Safety System Developed from Real Missing Person Search Experience
SOSPRO was developed for seniors, people living with memory impairment, and anyone who requires additional personal safety. The system is based on the practical experience of the missing person search organisation BEZVESTS.LV.
Over the past 16 years, the BEZVESTS.LV team has received more than 5,000 requests for assistance, organised over 2,000 search operations, and participated in locating 151 missing people.
Behind every search operation is a real family, hours of uncertainty, hundreds of kilometres of searching, and the understanding that every minute can make a difference.
This real-world experience became the foundation for the SOSPRO safety system.
SOSPRO was created by Aleksandr Faminskis, founder and director of BEZVESTS.LV, who has spent more than 16 years organising missing person searches throughout Latvia.
Why SOSPRO Was Created
During search operations we repeatedly encountered situations where families simply did not know what had happened.
The phone was not answering.
The person was not at home.
No one knew where they were.
The hardest part was the uncertainty.
Families began searching on their own, calling relatives and friends, contacting the police, while valuable time continued to pass.
We cannot prevent every emergency. However, in many situations it is possible to determine a person's location much sooner and understand what kind of help may be needed.
That is why SOSPRO was created.
Our Experience
SOSPRO was developed not only by engineers.
It was designed using the practical knowledge gained through years of real missing person search operations.
We analysed real disappearance cases, studied the factors that made searches more difficult, and focused on solutions that could help families obtain information about a person's possible location as quickly as possible.
During development, particular attention was given to:
- long battery life;
- ease of use;
- fast and accurate location tracking;
- additional technologies that may prove valuable during complex search operations.
Social Enterprise
SIA "Bezvests.lv SOS" is a Latvian social enterprise established in 2020, building on the long-standing experience of the volunteer search organisation BEZVESTS.LV.
The development of the SOSPRO system was made possible through the support of the Ministry of Welfare of the Republic of Latvia and financial assistance provided by ALTUM under the Social Entrepreneurship Support Programme.
Our goal is not simply to develop modern location technology, but to make personal safety solutions more accessible for seniors, people living with memory impairment, and everyone who needs additional protection.
What We Believe
We understand that no technology can completely eliminate the risk of an emergency.
A GPS device cannot replace family members, healthcare professionals, emergency services, or the police.
However, timely information about a person's possible location can significantly speed up the assessment of the situation and help people make informed decisions.
That is why SOSPRO is much more than a GPS tracker.
It is a safety system created by people who have spent many years searching for missing persons and understand how valuable every single minute can be.
